Our professional shop manager, John Goodenough, leads a team of dedicated volunteers who give up 3-4 hours of their time each week to serve in the shop or help out in other ways.
John lives near Oxford with his wife and two children. He has a wide experience of the retail sector, having worked for the
Co-op for nine years during which he ran the Kennington store and was responsible for setting up the new store at Besselsleigh Road in Wooton.
"I'm really looking forward to working with everyone in Radley to make the shop a success."
We currently have a team of around 60 volunteers who serve in the shop and help in other ways, but new names are always welcome. Appropriate training is given. More about what's involved
Become a volunteer. Can you give a few hours regularly or occasionally to help our village shop? Either tell the shop manager or contact the rota manager, Sue Ward.
Many of the volunteers are enjoying meeting other villagers. One volunteer comments: "It is great to have a shop in the village again and I find it uplifting being involved. I had never worked in a shop before. My initial feelings of apprehension soon passed, as everyone was so supportive. I enjoy my weekly shift; meeting people, learning new skills and working in such as friendly atmosphere."
